STO Server is Maintaining for Server Capacity

February 7th, 2010 in Star Trek Online

Currently, Star Trek online server is being maintained. Based upon the news released by Cryptic Studio in February 02, 2010, it seems they are striving for the server capacity of STO still.
As most players known, there were frequent maintenance of the server after its official launching. And we are going to see what the players thoughts.

Only one server?

I make no claim to be the smartest person in the world and I don’t know a ton about storage space, server bandwidth, or other things like that, however it seems to me that having only one server for a game with an audience this size is a terrible idea. I can think of a few common sense reasons off the top of my head, but is there a legitimate reason for this?
I’m not bashing on Cryptic here, they are the professionals, not I, but I I don’t fully understand why they would choose to run the system this way.

As well as, the discussion started by Cpt_Equinox.
One Server only?

One server.
One server to rule them all,
One Dev to bind them.
One Server to Fool them all,
On release day to defy them.

In my opinion, there is no possible for the second server or more be launched by Cryptic Studio. It doesn’t mean they don’t enough money to setup the server up. However, it is an aggregate planning. Anyway, we hope the capacity of Star Trek Online server goes bigger soon so that more fans are able to join the game.
