IGG’s Upcoming Titles

Kabalyero on November 25th, 2007 @ 8:07 pm

I’m not a very big fan of IGG but I am a big fan of games, particularly online games like mmorpgs, mmos, etc., and I did play Voyage Century Online once which is a really great game.

It seems that they have a few titles on the line like Zu Online, Angels Online, Gods War Online and Wonderland.

Zu Online has just concluded their Alpha Test. Next will be, hopefully, the Open Beta Test and in my experience, characters created during the Beta period are not deleted and get carried over to the commercial release of the game. In my opinion, the Beta period is the best time to get started with a game because it’ll give you an edge over other players, at least for a brief period of time. LOL!

Zu Online

Angels Online is scheduled this December, 2007 and it’s one of those mmorpgs with cute characters like Flyff and Scions of Fate. Gods War Online is scheduled on the second quarter of 2008 and Wonderland is on March 2008.

I might try Zu Online because the graphics look cartoonish and I’m just curious to how it will really look. If I’m not mistaken, that technique is called Cel-Shading where 3D objects or models are rendered to look like a cartoon or hand drawned.

MMORPGREALM

I’ve been so busy with Second Life that I’ve missed so many things in the local MMORPG scene!

Rising Force Online - Bellato

It seems that the trend this past few months was to go Free 2 Play as seen with the release of Ragnarok Online’s free to play Valkyrie Server and Rising Force (RF) Online free to play update. These news may be old to many but they are new to me.

I really need to get back into the MMORPG loop because the last news I heard was the closing of Philippine ROSE Online after it became Free 2 Play. Are we going to see the same thing happen with RF and RO? RF and RO Philippines will not be closing down soon because they still have a fairly large user base. Just look at Khan Online Philippines, it’s still up and running.

Ragnarok Online

I’m not a big fan of RF or RO but I remember saying to myself that the only time I’ll even consider playing these two titles again is when they become Free 2 Play. I guess faith wants me to play these games again. LOL!

If I can get my hands on a CD installer then I might install and play these games again just for the hell of it but if I’m going to download the installer, well, I’m not sure. Like what I’ve said, I’m just not a big fan of RF and RO left a bad taste on me.

Anyway, my guess is that Game Publishers are getting enough returns in their investment to keep this Free 2 Play subscription model because if not then we wouldn’t see titles like RO or RF changing from Pay 2 Play to Free 2 Play.

MMORPGREALM

Hey did you know about this buzz that is currently circulating various gaming sites all over the net? Apparently, in King of the World, male players in real life are no longer allowed to play or use female characters.

King of the World is a Chinese {en:MMORPG} where (according to reports) the game developers recently froze accounts of male players playing or using a femae character in-game. Now, if you want to play with a female character you must prove your gender using a webcam. Well that’s assuming if they have a webcam, right? What if the poor girl doesn’t have a webcam? Simple, find another game to play.

Good news for all you women playing with a male character, it doesn’t apply to you. Real life females can continue to create and play with male characters in-game. Hey, wait a minute? Isn’t that a form of discrimination?

My guess is, since the game is called King of the World, the game developer just want to have more males in-game than females because if the game is ruled by a female character then it would no longer be King of the World but Queen of the World instead. LOL! *joke*

I find this issue funny because the online gaming industry is filled with scamming, game account hacking, botting, griefing, bug abuses and all of sorts of things that can really disrupt a gamers’ gaming experience and yet this particular game developer opted to focus on gender verification.

Hmmm, maybe they are going to enter the adult gaming industry too. Just kidding!

Also, gender verification through webcam can be faked and besides isn’t that an invasion of privacy. Well, I’m sure many people will think so!

Anyway, this news really hyped my interest in the game, King of the World, and I might even try it.
