MMORPG
ROLLBACK! ARGHHH!
Want to know what I’m getting myself busy with these past few days? Well, I am just spending most of my FREE time on Cabal Online.
I have characters in both servers, Mercury and Venus, but decided to stay in Venus because someone else was already using my favorite in-game name which is Kabalyero.
Cabal Online Philippines went Open Beta this past Sunday, May 24, 2008, at around 6:00pm. The launch was met with login and sign-up difficulties but those issues were eventually resolved. I was able to enter the game a few hours later. If I remember it correctly, I signed up for the game like four times (could be more) and, until now, I have yet to receive the validation e-mails from them.
Anyway, I’ve been playing for almost six days now and on my fourth day, I was able to reach level 43. What! Only level 43? Well, like I’ve said I’m only playing with my FREE time. LOL!
Yesterday, I logged in in-game only to find Venus server gone. This prompt me to visit e-Games forums and there I found out that Venus server was undergoing some emergency maintenance.
Ok, that wasn’t a big deal. Emergency server maintenance are very common to online games. In fact, it’s even common to servers that serves or host websites.
After a while, the announcement was updated and now they announced that Venus will undergo a serverwide rollback. The extent of the rollback was almost an entire day. That means, almost everything I accomplished on the affected day just went down the drain. Arrgghh!
Logging in after the maintenance I found that my main character’s level went down to level 39 from level 43 and I would have to do all of the affected quests all over again. I was upset but only a little because everyone was affected by it. If it was only my account then I would be furious. LOL! Not really!
Today, I’m happy to say that my main character is now at level 46 and that is thanks to the 75% increase in experience. e-Games, publisher of Cabal Online in the Philippines, increased the rates as compensation for the unexpected rollback.
Honestly, I feel that the compensation wasn’t enough because, think about it, players didn’t only lose character data but they, including me, also lose some precious time which can never be compensated.
Oh well, I guess it is better than nothing, right?
See you in Cabal Online Philippines!
