Blah! Blah! Blah!, Industry, MMORPG
Hey miss, are you a man in RL?

Hey did you know about this buzz that is currently circulating various gaming sites all over the net? Apparently, in King of the World, male players in real life are no longer allowed to play or use female characters.
King of the World is a Chinese {en:MMORPG} where (according to reports) the game developers recently froze accounts of male players playing or using a femae character in-game. Now, if you want to play with a female character you must prove your gender using a webcam. Well that’s assuming if they have a webcam, right? What if the poor girl doesn’t have a webcam? Simple, find another game to play.
Good news for all you women playing with a male character, it doesn’t apply to you. Real life females can continue to create and play with male characters in-game. Hey, wait a minute? Isn’t that a form of discrimination?
My guess is, since the game is called King of the World, the game developer just want to have more males in-game than females because if the game is ruled by a female character then it would no longer be King of the World but Queen of the World instead. LOL! *joke*
I find this issue funny because the online gaming industry is filled with scamming, game account hacking, botting, griefing, bug abuses and all of sorts of things that can really disrupt a gamers’ gaming experience and yet this particular game developer opted to focus on gender verification.
Hmmm, maybe they are going to enter the adult gaming industry too. Just kidding!
Also, gender verification through webcam can be faked and besides isn’t that an invasion of privacy. Well, I’m sure many people will think so!
Anyway, this news really hyped my interest in the game, King of the World, and I might even try it.
